The longest of Brahms' work in any form,
A German Requiem was originally planned to be four movements. Inspired by the death of his mother in February 1865, Brahms expanded the scope of the work to six and finally seven movements. Considered a monumental classic, the music is powerful and hauntingly beautiful, and a must-have for classical music lovers.
