The yearly remembrance of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ has inspired composers for centuries to their finest creations.  Dvorák's Stabat Mater (There stood the Mother), surely his greatest choral work, stands as one of the most supremely eloquent and moving settings of this ancient text ever composed.  The soaring melodies and glorious orchestration fully express the many emotions felt by Mary, the Mother of Christ, as she witnessed the final agony of her Son.
