Quotes from former interns:

"Choral Arts is a great place to get hands on experience working and dealing with the non-profit arts world."

"As a CASW intern I felt like I was part of the team, as opposed to fulfilling the typical gopher role."

"If you are looking to become close with professionals in the arts management field, this is a super internship to help accomplish that.  The office environment at Choral Arts is friendly and fun!"

"If you are at all interested in a career in either the non-profit world or the performing arts world, this is an excellent internship to have."

"Interning at Choral Arts far surpasses my other internships in the DC area."

The Choral Arts Society regularly hosts graduate and undergraduate, full-time and part-time interns during the fall, spring, and summer terms.  Internships are coordinated through the Education and Community Programs Department and are available in all areas of the organization.  Every effort is made to custom design an internship that meets the needs of both the intern and Choral Arts.  Four interns have completed masters theses in conjunction with their internships.

A sample of possible internship projects and study areas are:

  • Administration: Strategic planning, budget management, staff and board development, and program evaluation
  • Education and Community Programs: Management and evaluation of programs, artist recruitment, strategic planning, and community relations
  • Marketing and Public Relations: Media relations, publications development, planning, website development, and group sales
  • Development: Grant research and writing, annual fund, special event planning, donor relations and program development
  • Artistic and Production: Chorus development, artist relations, library management, special events planning, concert and backstage management
