various composers

Naxos/Choral Arts 10108

Janice Chandler, soprano
James Shaffron, baritone
J. Reilly Lewis, organist
Chamber Orchestra
Norman Scribner, conductor

The Choral Arts Society's second CD for Christmas takes its name from Mendelssohn's There Shall A Star Come Out of Jacob, and represents Music Director and Conductor Norman Scribner's favorite Christmas music jewels: "Brich An, O Schones Morgenlicht," "Jesus Christ the Apple Tree," "Chanticleer," "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," "A Spotless Rose," and "Here We Come a-Wassailing." Recorded at St. Luke Catholic Church, McLean, VA in 1999, the CD is destined to become a classic.
