Event Description:
The Society's annual Gala is a highlight of the Washington holiday season and attracts 700 of Washington's most prominent political, business, and cultural leaders. At 7:00 pm guests experienced an uplifting performance of Christmas Music in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. At 8:30 pm the Gala moved upstairs to the Roof Terrace level of the Kennedy Center and continued with a reception and silent auction that included an array of luxury items and the finest in travel. This elegant evening continued with a gourmet dinner and dancing until midnight.
The Proceeds Will Support:
The Choral Arts Gala is an important part of the annual fundraising efforts of the Choral Arts Society, and the 2007 Gala netted more than $500,000 to help support the annual activities of the organization. These initiatives include a subscription concert series in the Kennedy Center and extensive community outreach programs which are recognized for their distinctive impact. These programs include artsACCESS, the Society's cutting edge arts-in-education program, using music and the arts to help foster success in the schools. This year artsACCESS will provide approximately 470 artist visits to 1,200 children in four inner-city DC public elementary schools, along with teacher training, curriculum development, and classroom resources.
